THANKS TO SEEING A FRIEND OF MINES PHOTOS,I FOUND A HIDDEN PLACE ONLY 15MILES FROM ME,THANKS HELEN,,,IVE tried to capture how it is,rather different and the waterfalls awesome,Do please if you have 5mins have a look at my walk,and say hello if you pass by..It was like stepping into a different time zone ie 1750,,,.Lumsdale: the hidden valley
The lumsdale valley is an outstandingly beautiful area with a very interesting history. The Bentley Brook flows through a small wooded gorge, and within a relatively short distance you can see the remains of six waterwheels and three ponds – perhaps the most concentrated evidence of early water power in Britain.

Nature has reclaimed its hold the whole valley, and where there was once the noise and dirt of numerous industrial processes there is now a pleasant atmosphere of romantic decay.

The site is owned by the Arkwright Society and is open to the public. During the summer guided tours are provided, and details of these available at Cromford Mill or on the Arkwright Society’s website.
