Rhododendron flower, interior, with raindrops

As I recall it, this was on a wild rhododendron plant, growing by the side of a road, in Pickens County, South Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the Appalachian range.
The stigma and style (female) are visible in the middle, as are several anthers and filaments (male). Rhododendrons, and azaleas, which are in the same family, usually have some darker spots on two of the petals. I seem to have cut those petals off in taking, or cropping, this photo.
Large and original sizes available.
some more flowers taken with a lens that is not supposed to be used to take pictures of flowers
